After the success of her 2024 comedy-drama Crew, Kareena Kapoor Khan is ready to return with its much-anticipated sequel. As per a Pinkvilla report, Crew 2 is officially in the works and currently under development. Kareena, who played a sharp-witted air hostess caught in a gold-smuggling scheme, has shown strong interest in reprising her role, although she is waiting for the final screenplay before signing on.
A source close to the project revealed, “Crew has strong potential to grow into a franchise. The team has explored several ideas and has now zeroed in on one that seamlessly continues the story.”
While Kareena’s return is confirmed, it remains unclear whether her co-stars Kriti Sanon and Tabu will be part of the sequel. According to reports, if they opt out, the makers plan to bring in fresh A-list actresses. “The vision is to continue the film with three top female leads. Kareena is locked in, and casting discussions for the other roles are ongoing,” the source added.
Directed by Rajesh A. Krishnan, Crew was a box office hit, earning over ₹100 crore. Praised for its sharp humour, thrilling storyline, and strong female leads, the film marked a refreshing shift in Bollywood’s mainstream narrative.
In addition to Crew 2, Kareena is also gearing up for Daayra, a dark crime-drama directed by Meghna Gulzar. Co-starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film explores themes of crime, justice, and moral conflict. Co-written by Meghna, Yash, and Sima, Daayra promises a gritty, realistic take on society’s pressing issues and marks Meghna’s directorial return after Sam Bahadur (2023).
With Crew 2 and Daayra, Kareena Kapoor Khan is poised for another impactful year on screen.
