Actor Vivek Oberoi is all set to appear in director Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated magnum opus, Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role. The film, which has already generated massive buzz for its scale and star-studded cast, will reportedly see Vivek portray Vibhishan, the righteous brother of Ravana. However, what has truly won hearts is the actor’s noble decision to donate his entire fee from the film to a cause close to his heart children battling cancer.
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Vivek shared, “I told Namit (Malhotra, producer) that I don’t want a penny for this. I want to donate it to any cause I believe in, which is kids with cancer. I told him I want to support you because I just love what you’re doing, and I think this film will take Indian cinema to the global stage with a bang.” The actor expressed immense pride in being part of a project of such magnitude, describing his experience working with Tiwari and his co-stars including Yash, Rakul Preet Singh, and others as fulfilling and fun.
Vivek also shared his excitement about the film’s vision, calling Ramayana “India’s answer to Hollywood epics.” He said, “What Namit and Nitesh are doing is truly taking Bharatiya cinema to the global stage. They are associated with a company that has won nearly seven to eight Oscars in VFX, and they have done iconic work. To bring a deeply rooted Indian epic like Ramayana to a global audience it can’t get bigger than that.”
According to reports, the first instalment’s edit has already been completed, and the film is now entering a massive 300-day VFX phase. Pinkvilla recently revealed that Ramayana: Part One wrapped filming in June 2025, with director Nitesh Tiwari now locking the final runtime and edit. A source mentioned that “the first round of VFX is complete, and the team has taken the final edit for an extended post-production process.”
The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. Sunny Deol will play Hanuman, while Ravie Dubey portrays Laxman. Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh will appear as Mandodari and Surpanakha, respectively. Other notable actors include Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan.
Backed by an ambitious vision and world-class technology, Ramayana is set for a global release, with Part 1 arriving on Diwali 2026 and Part 2 following on Diwali 2027. With Vivek Oberoi’s heartfelt gesture and a stellar cast, the film promises to be a landmark moment in Indian cinema.
