Ranveer Singh’s Next Is Not for the Faint-Hearted: Inside Zombie Thriller Pralay

After Dhurandhar’s massive success, Ranveer Singh gears up for Pralay, a bold zombie thriller set in a devastated, post-apocalyptic Mumbai.

Ranveer Singh is currently enjoying one of the most powerful phases of his career. His latest release, Dhurandhar, has turned into a box office juggernaut, defying expectations despite limited promotional activity. Within just ten days of release, the film is already charging toward the ₹400 crore mark, firmly reinforcing Ranveer’s position as one of Bollywood’s most bankable stars. Riding high on this success, the actor is now reportedly gearing up for an ambitious and unconventional project — a post-apocalyptic zombie thriller titled Pralay.

According to a report by Mid-Day, Pralay is expected to go on floors between July and August 2026. The film will be directed by Jai Mehta, son of acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta, and will mark Jai’s feature film directorial debut. Jai previously co-directed the critically acclaimed web series Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, which received widespread praise for its sharp storytelling and technical finesse.

Unlike typical zombie films, Pralay is said to delve deeper into human psychology and societal collapse. Reports suggest that the undead will serve as a metaphor for emotional isolation, moral decay, and the breakdown of social order in a world pushed to the edge. At its core, the narrative focuses on survival — not just against zombies, but against the erosion of humanity itself.

Before stepping into this demanding project, Ranveer Singh will first wrap up Farhan Akhtar’s much-anticipated Don 3, which is scheduled to begin shooting in early 2026. Once the action-packed franchise film is completed, the actor is expected to shift his full attention to Pralay. Sources indicate that the final production schedule for the zombie thriller will be locked by January, allowing the creative team ample time to design its ambitious visual effects and dystopian setting.

One of the film’s most intriguing elements is its backdrop. Pralay will reportedly reimagine Mumbai as a devastated and near-unrecognisable city. Drawing visual inspiration from global franchises like The Hunger Games, the makers plan to combine large-scale physical sets with AI-driven digital enhancements to depict decay, abandonment, and collapse. Filming is expected to begin in Mumbai before moving to other locations.

Apart from Pralay, Ranveer also has Dhurandhar 2: Revenge lined up for release on March 19, 2026, where it will clash with Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. With a zombie thriller, a major franchise sequel, and high-octane action ahead, Ranveer Singh is clearly entering one of the most genre-diverse chapters of his career.
