Dhurandhar’s ₹600 Crore Success Story: Has Ranveer Singh’s Film Become The Biggest Hit Of 2025?

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar storms past ₹600 crore in 11 days, eyeing the ₹1,000 crore mark as it challenges Chhaava and Kantara Chapter One at the box office.

Dhurandhar has emerged as one of the most talked-about films of the year, taking the Indian box office by storm with an extraordinary second-week performance. Headlined by Ranveer Singh, the spy action thriller has shown an unprecedented hold at the ticket window, registering record collections day after day. Its remarkable consistency, even during weekdays, has propelled the film past the ₹600 crore mark in just 11 days, firmly establishing it as a commercial juggernaut.

After closing its first week with an impressive worldwide gross of ₹319 crore, Dhurandhar gained fresh momentum during its second weekend. The film surged ahead, comfortably crossing the ₹400 crore and ₹500 crore milestones, indicating strong word-of-mouth and repeat viewership. By the end of its 12th day in theatres, the film had amassed a staggering ₹639 crore gross worldwide, making it the third-highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 so far.

Currently ahead of Dhurandhar on the annual box office chart are two other major blockbusters—Kantara Chapter One, which has earned ₹851 crore worldwide, and Chhaava, with a gross of ₹808 crore. While Dhurandhar trails these films in total collections for now, its sustained momentum suggests that the race for the top spot is far from over.

From a profitability standpoint, Dhurandhar has already proven to be a massive success. The film’s net earnings are estimated to be close to ₹500 crore. Trade reports indicate that the landing cost for the first part of the film was approximately ₹140 crore. This means that the film has already generated a profit margin of around 250–260%, a remarkable feat for a big-budget action thriller.

However, when compared to the year’s other major hits, Dhurandhar still has some ground to cover. Chhaava reportedly earned an estimated ₹650 crore in net collections on a budget of ₹125 crore, resulting in a profit margin of nearly 420%. Similarly, Kantara Chapter One netted around ₹680 crore against a ₹150 crore budget, translating to a profit of approximately 350%. These figures place both films ahead of Dhurandhar in terms of sheer profitability among large-scale releases.

To surpass Chhaava and claim the title of the year’s biggest hit among major films, Dhurandhar would need to achieve net earnings of over ₹725 crore. This would correspond to a worldwide gross exceeding ₹950 crore. Trade analysts believe this is not an unrealistic target, given the film’s exceptional hold and audience response. In fact, several industry insiders estimate that Dhurandhar could cross the ₹1,000 crore mark if its momentum continues, which would firmly cement its position as the biggest mainstream release of 2025.

However, even if Dhurandhar achieves this milestone, it will still fall short of claiming the title of the most profitable Indian film of the year overall. That distinction has already been secured by an unexpected contender—a low-budget Gujarati film titled Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayte. Made on a modest budget of just ₹50 lakh, the film went on to gross an astonishing ₹111 crore worldwide. With net earnings exceeding ₹85 crore, the film boasts a jaw-dropping profit margin of nearly 17,000%.

To put that figure into perspective, Dhurandhar would need to earn close to ₹24,000 crore worldwide to match the profitability of Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayte—a number that surpasses the lifetime collections of global giants like Titanic and Avatar: The Way of Water. This comparison highlights the sheer scale of success achieved by small-budget regional cinema and underscores how profitability and box office dominance are not always dictated by star power or scale.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is a high-octane spy thriller that follows Ranveer Singh in the role of Hamza, an Indian intelligence operative tasked with infiltrating gang and terror networks operating out of Karachi. The film’s gripping narrative, stylised action sequences, and strong performances have resonated with audiences across the country. Supporting Ranveer are a formidable ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R. Madhavan, each of whom adds depth and intensity to the story.

As Dhurandhar continues its box office run, all eyes are now on whether it can maintain its pace and challenge the year’s biggest blockbusters. Regardless of where it ultimately lands, the film has already carved out a place for itself as one of the most successful and talked-about releases of 2025.
