Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara Targets June 2026 Release After CGI Backlash—Here’s What Changed

Chiranjeevi’s fantasy epic Vishwambhara now eyes a June 2026 release as makers refine CGI and scale up visuals for a grand summer spectacle.

Chiranjeevi’s much-awaited fantasy action drama Vishwambhara has remained one of the most talked-about Telugu films ever since its grand announcement. Now, fresh updates regarding its release timeline have once again stirred excitement among fans. According to recent industry reports, the makers are planning a June 2026 theatrical release, though an official announcement is still pending.

Reports from 123 Telugu suggest that the film’s teaser initially drew criticism for its subpar CGI, prompting the team to take a step back and reassess the visual effects. Rather than rushing the project, the makers reportedly decided to invest additional time and resources to enhance the VFX quality. This feedback-driven approach is said to be a key reason behind the revised release window, with the film now aiming for a grand summer 2026 debut—an ideal season for large-scale family entertainers.

Earlier this year, Chiranjeevi personally addressed concerns surrounding the film’s delay through a video message. The Megastar clarified that a significant portion of Vishwambhara, particularly the entire second half, relies heavily on VFX and advanced graphics. Emphasizing quality over speed, he assured fans that the team is leaving no stone unturned to deliver a visually stunning cinematic experience. He also noted that the summer season was strategically chosen, as it attracts children and family audiences in large numbers.

Vishwambhara is a passion project for director Vassishta, who won praise for his debut film Bimbisara, known for its imaginative storytelling and impressive visual effects. Expectations are sky-high as Vassishta returns to the fantasy genre on an even grander scale, promising a rich blend of mythology, emotion, and spectacle.

The film features Trisha Krishnan as the female lead, while Ashika Ranganath plays a pivotal role. Actor Kunal Kapoor is also part of the ensemble cast. Adding to the film’s scale is its strong technical team, with Chota K Naidu handling cinematography and AS Prakash designing the elaborate world of Vishwambhara.

Backed by the renowned production house UV Creations, the film is being mounted on a massive budget with no compromise on quality or creative vision. Produced by Vikram, Vamsi, and Pramod, Vishwambhara aims to offer a visually immersive experience that resonates with audiences across age groups. Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi is also preparing for Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu opposite Nayanthara, set for a Sankranthi release on January 12, 2026.
