Ranabaali Promises Epic Rebellion Drama starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna reunite in Ranabaali, a 19th-century action epic. Fierce first look stuns fans as wedding rumors swirl.

Tollywood’s favorite on-screen duo is back — and fans can’t keep calm. Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna are officially reuniting in the upcoming period action spectacle Ranabaali, previously known as VD14. Their return together comes seven years after Dear Comrade, the film that first ignited their much-loved chemistry. Now, with a massive historical drama in the works and persistent buzz surrounding their real-life relationship, the internet is buzzing louder than ever.

The makers unveiled the first look of Ranabaali on Monday, January 26, instantly grabbing attention with striking visuals. The teaser introduces Vijay in a ferocious new avatar — a warrior charging on horseback while dragging a British officer across rugged land. The intense imagery hints at rebellion, suppressed histories, and a battle against colonial power, setting the tone for an epic narrative driven by resistance and raw emotion.

Sharing the teaser, Vijay wrote, “The British called him a ‘Savage.’ I do not disagree. He was OUR savage! Introducing the one and only RANABAALI. And setting the record straight on our history which they tried to bury.” His words signal that the film aims to reclaim stories erased or distorted under colonial rule, adding depth beyond its high-octane action.

Set in the 19th century, Ranabaali draws inspiration from real incidents that occurred between 1854 and 1878. The film positions itself as a grand-scale period drama centered on defiance against British oppression. With sweeping battle sequences, emotional storytelling, and historical intensity, it is being touted as one of the most ambitious projects of Vijay’s career.

Rashmika Mandanna steps into the role of Jayamma, a character expected to provide emotional grounding and narrative strength. Adding international weight to the cast, Arnold Vosloo portrays Sir Theodore Hector, reinforcing the colonial backdrop. Music is composed by the acclaimed duo Ajay-Atul, promising a powerful score to match the film’s dramatic scale.

Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers and presented by T-Series, Ranabaali will release in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, ensuring a wide pan-Indian reach. The theatrical release date has been locked for September 11, 2026.

Off-screen, Vijay and Rashmika continue to command headlines. Reports claim the duo got engaged in October 2025 at Vijay’s Hyderabad residence in a private ceremony. Sources also suggest a February 26 wedding at a heritage palace in Udaipur, followed by a grand reception in Hyderabad. While the couple has not officially confirmed these details, their on-screen reunion has only intensified public curiosity — blending reel-life romance with real-life speculation.
