Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep Reunite in The Devil Wears Prada 2 Trailer Out

The Devil Wears Prada 2 trailer debuted at the Grammys, confirming the return of Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and the OG cast nearly 20 years later.

After nearly two decades of anticipation, The Devil Wears Prada fans finally have reason to celebrate. During the 2026 Grammy Awards, audiences were surprised with the first official trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2, confirming the long-rumoured sequel and the return of its beloved original cast. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are all back, with the film set to hit theatres on May 1.

Set almost 20 years after the iconic 2006 original, the sequel revisits the high-fashion world of Runway magazine — but this time, everything has changed. The trailer opens with a confident, polished Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway), a far cry from the overwhelmed assistant viewers first met years ago. Now firmly established in the fashion industry, Andy’s return to Runway sparks an unexpected reunion with her former boss, the legendary Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep).

In one of the trailer’s most instantly quotable moments, Miranda appears to have no memory of Andy at all. “Sorry, who is this?” she asks Nigel Kipling (Stanley Tucci), who lights up upon seeing Andy again. As Andy introduces herself, Nigel delivers a perfectly dry line — “She was one of the Emilys” — immediately reviving the franchise’s signature wit.

The sequel makes it clear it isn’t a reboot or a passing-of-the-torch story. Instead, it leans into nostalgia while allowing its characters to evolve. Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt) soon enters the scene, recognising Andy instantly and delivering a sharp, sarcastic jab that feels straight out of the original film. When Andy reveals she is now the magazine’s Features Editor, Emily’s shock is unmistakable.

“You’ve changed,” Emily tells her. “You’re much more confident.” She then adds, without missing a beat, “Kept those eyebrows, though, didn’t you?”

Ahead of the trailer’s debut, 20th Century Studios teased fans with a simple message on social media: “Trailer tonight. That’s all.” According to Variety, the sequel will explore Miranda Priestly navigating the decline of traditional magazine publishing, while clashing with Emily — now a powerful executive at a luxury conglomerate that controls the advertising revenue Miranda desperately needs.

Directed once again by David Frankel, the film also stars Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen and Conrad Ricamora.

Fashion may have changed — but the drama clearly hasn’t.
