The controversy involving Ranveer Singh and Don 3 has become one of the most discussed topics in Bollywood right now. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees, popularly known as FWICE, recently announced a non cooperation directive against the actor after his sudden exit from the film. The decision reportedly came after filmmaker Farhan Akhtar approached the organisation and claimed that Ranveer’s decision caused heavy financial losses to the production.
The issue has now caught the attention of many people in the film industry. Actor Manoj Bajpayee recently reacted to the matter while attending the trailer launch event of his upcoming film Governor. Manoj said that most people in the industry only know about the controversy through social media and news reports and do not have complete information about what actually happened behind the scenes. He also said that everyone hopes the matter gets sorted out soon because nobody wants such disputes to continue within the film fraternity.
According to FWICE, the controversy began after Ranveer Singh reportedly walked out of Don 3 just a few days before the shooting was supposed to start. The organisation claimed they sent several notices to the actor asking him to respond and discuss the issue. However, FWICE President Ashoke Pandit said there was no reply from the actor for a long time. He revealed that the body sent three notices and reminders over a span of several weeks. Only after FWICE announced a press conference did Ranveer’s team reportedly send an email saying that the matter was contractual and outside FWICE’s authority.
Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta also shared his opinion on the matter and questioned the logic behind banning a leading actor. He said that when a major film stops production, hundreds of workers, technicians and daily wage earners suffer because they lose work opportunities and income. According to him, such actions affect ordinary workers more than the stars involved in the dispute.
Don 3 was officially announced in 2023 by Excel Entertainment and created massive excitement among fans. The film marked Ranveer Singh’s entry into the iconic Don franchise, a role previously played by legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. Reports now claim that the production house suffered losses of nearly ₹45 crore after Ranveer’s sudden exit from the project.
