Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana has unveiled a new musical sequence featuring Rocking Star Yash as Ravana ahead of the film’s worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026. Released on Dussehra, the sequence is titled Rise of Asura in Hindi and focuses on Ravana’s character. The reveal coincides with the opening of advance bookings across India on October 20.
Yash’s Ravana connects with Lord Shiva
The new sequence offers a closer look at Yash’s appearance as Ravana, highlighting the character’s imposing look and strong screen presence. It also explores Ravana’s connection with Lord Shiva, an important part of his place in Hindu mythology.
Tandav is traditionally associated with Lord Shiva and represents the cycles of creation, preservation and destruction. Ravana is known as a devoted follower of Shiva and is linked with the Shiva Tandav Stotram, a hymn praising the deity. The musical sequence draws on this connection to present another side of Ravana beyond his role as Lord Rama’s enemy.
The Dussehra release adds meaning to the reveal, as the festival marks Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana. In the film, Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, while Yash takes on the role of Ravana.
Musical sequence released in multiple languages
Released under the T-Series label, the sequence has different titles across languages. It is called Rise of Asura in Hindi, Ravana Tandava in Kannada and Ravana Tandavam in Tamil and Telugu.
The Hindi version features vocals by Vishal Dadlani, lyrics by Dr Kumar Vishwas and music supervision by A.R. Ameen and Hiral Viradia. The Tamil version features Anirudh Ravichander and G. V. Prakash Kumar.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
Ramayana planned as a two part epic
Produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with eight-time Oscar-winning DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana is planned as a two part film.
Part 1 will release worldwide on November 5, 2026, followed by Part 2 during Diwali 2027. The film is planned for release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, including IMAX screenings. Sony Pictures will handle global distribution outside India, while Dharma Productions will distribute the film in the Hindi-speaking market.
