Bhooth Bangla continued to perform steadily at the Indian box office during its fifth week in theatres. The Akshay Kumar starrer collected Rs. 75 lakh on its 5th Friday. The film recorded a drop of around 50 per cent compared to the previous Friday, but it still managed to maintain a stable run at the box office.
According to current trade estimates, the horror comedy is expected to add nearly Rs. 3 crore more during the weekend. With this, the film’s total India nett collection is likely to touch around Rs. 158 crore. The movie is expected to cross the Rs. 160 crore mark during the weekdays before continuing its final theatrical run.
Trade experts currently estimate that the film directed by Priyadarshan may finish its overall box office journey at around Rs. 165 crore. At the same time, there is also interest in whether the film will be able to cross the lifetime collection of Housefull 5, which stands at Rs. 168 crore. However, the final outcome will depend on how the movie performs in the coming days.
For Akshay Kumar, Bhooth Bangla has become an important film after a difficult period at the box office following the pandemic years. Several of the actor’s releases in recent years did not perform strongly in theatres. Last year showed some improvement, with three films performing decently, although none of them achieved major HIT status.
With Bhooth Bangla, Akshay Kumar has finally delivered a successful theatrical performer again. Trade circles often consider his contribution important for the Hindi film industry because he is one of the few leading actors who releases multiple films every year.
Unlike many stars who take long breaks between projects, Akshay Kumar regularly appears in theatres with two or three releases annually. Along with Ajay Devgn, he remains among the few actors maintaining a high number of releases consistently.
Industry observers believe that the Indian box office largely depends on star driven films, and regular releases from major actors help theatres and the overall film business remain active throughout the year.
