The trailer for Sony Pictures Entertainment India’s remake of Anaconda has landed—and it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen. This new spin on the beloved survival-thriller injects the classic franchise with some meta, comedic humor, mixing jungle terror with midlife crises and movie-fiasco malaise.
When Movie-Making Goes Jungle Wrong
Directed by Tom Gormican, the movie features Jack Black and Paul Rudd as best friends Doug and Griff, who are struggling through the middle age blues. In an effort to get back into their youthful groove, they set out to make their own take on their favorite jungle action movie—a movie about anacondas. But their fun little endeavor quickly becomes a nightmare when an actual giant anaconda shows up in the Amazon, sending their crew into a desperate fight for survival.
The trailer hints at a crazy blend of action-filled creature thrills and laugh-out-loud mishaps fueled by Black and Rudd’s comic genius and chemistry. With satire, frights, and self-referential humor, the movie presents a revitalized take on the franchise with homage to the original.
A Stellar Cast Behind the Adventure
The cast consists of Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior, and Selton Mello, bringing richness to the jungle mayhem. The movie is made by Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Kevin Etten, and Tom Gormican.
Die-hard fans of the original 1997 will recall its grim tone, when a documentary team—headed by Jennifer Lopez and Jon Voight—were taken hostage by an eccentric hunter who wanted to catch the mythical snake.
This Christmas Release
Anaconda arrives in cinemas all over India on 25th December 2025 in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. With its genre fusion twist and festive timing, it will be a holiday season movie experience to remember.
