BLACKPINK’s Jisoo makes her Super Bowl debut in Pokémon’s 30th anniversary ad, chooses Eevee as her favourite, and launches an exclusive merch line.

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has officially made her Super Bowl debut — not through a halftime performance, but via a global advertising moment. The K-pop superstar appeared in a high-profile Pokémon commercial that aired during the Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on February 8 (local time). The one-minute ad marked a major milestone for the franchise, celebrating 30 years of Pokémon with a star-studded cast from across the world.

The commercial is part of The Pokémon Company’s yearlong campaign, “What’s Your Favourite?”, which invites celebrities from diverse fields to share their personal favourite Pokémon. The ad opens with comedian and 2026 Grammy Awards host Trevor Noah posing the central question, “What’s my favourite?”, setting the tone for a playful, global celebration of nostalgia and fandom. The campaign features celebrities speaking in different languages, underscoring Pokémon’s cross-cultural impact.

One of the ad’s standout moments features Lady Gaga, who sings alongside Jigglypuff while humorously praising the balloon Pokémon’s “12-octave vocal range.” Jisoo, meanwhile, delivers a charming and heartfelt moment by choosing Eevee as her favourite Pokémon. Speaking in Korean, she says, “I think she resembles me a bit,” instantly winning over fans worldwide. Trevor Noah reveals his pick as Psyduck, joking that its quirky and chaotic nature mirrors his own personality.

The commercial also includes appearances by Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc, Puerto Rican rapper Young Miko, Spanish football prodigy Lamine Yamal, and Never Have I Ever actress Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. Each star selects a different Pokémon — Arcanine, Gengar, Zygarde, and Luxray respectively — reinforcing the franchise’s broad and timeless appeal.

Jisoo’s collaboration with Pokémon extends beyond the Super Bowl spotlight. The company has announced an exclusive merchandise collection created in partnership with the BLACKPINK member. Inspired by Eevee, the line will feature plush toys, keychains, hats, and other collectible items. Jisoo promoted the collaboration on Instagram, sharing photos alongside the caption, “My fluffy little companion and adventurer is also my favourite Pokémon: Eevee. What’s yours? #Pokemon30.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Jisoo reflected on her childhood connection to Pokémon, recalling how watching the animated series made her feel transported into a different world after a long day. She added that fans often told her Eevee reminded them of her, a sentiment that deepened her emotional bond with the character — and eventually led to this global collaboration.
