Paramount Pictures has released the final trailer for By Any Means, an upcoming action crime thriller directed by Elegance Bratton. The film is based on a true story and takes viewers back to 1960s Mississippi, where a young Black FBI agent is assigned to investigate a series of brutal killings targeting civil rights leaders.
The story follows an FBI agent who enters a deeply troubled system while trying to uncover the truth behind the murders. His investigation becomes even more complicated when he is forced to work with Greg Scarpa, a notorious mafia hitman. Although the two men come from completely different worlds, their search for answers brings them together for a dangerous mission.
The final trailer shows the growing tension between the FBI investigation and the violent world surrounding it. As the agent gets deeper into the case, he discovers that the usual methods of law enforcement may not be enough to deal with the people responsible for the killings.
The central idea of the film is built around a broken system. The two men may have very different backgrounds and reasons for getting involved, but they eventually reach the same conclusion: “the law has limits. They don’t.” Their partnership forces them to operate in a dangerous space where justice and revenge begin to look increasingly similar.
By Any Means features Yahya Abdul Mateen II as the young FBI agent and Mark Wahlberg as Greg Scarpa. The cast also includes Nicole Beharie, Josh Lucas, LisaGay Hamilton, LaChanze, Ethan Embry, David Strathairn and Giancarlo Esposito.
Elegance Bratton has directed the film and also serves as one of its producers. The production team includes Alex Lebovici, Chester Algernal Gordon, Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson, along with Bratton.
The film explores a difficult period in American history while focusing on an investigation that brings together an FBI agent and a mafia figure. By Any Means is scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 4.
