Disney has revealed new details about Frozen 3, giving fans a better idea of what Anna, Elsa and the people of Arendelle may experience in the next chapter. The third film in the popular animated franchise is scheduled to arrive in theatres on November 24, 2027.
Kristen Bell will return as the voice of Anna, while Idina Menzel will once again voice Elsa. Jonathan Groff is also returning as Kristoff, with Josh Gad reprising his popular role as Olaf. The return of the main voice cast means audiences will once again hear the familiar characters in the upcoming film.
One of the biggest updates is that Anna and Kristoff are finally preparing to get married. Their relationship has grown through the first two films, and the new movie will take them towards a royal wedding. Bell and Menzel teased the development by saying, “This royal wedding has been a long time coming.”
However, the wedding may not be as peaceful as Anna and Kristoff would hope. Bell has also hinted that Anna and Elsa are about to begin “their biggest journey yet”. This suggests that the wedding will be only one part of a much bigger story.
Disney has not revealed exactly what will send Anna and Elsa on their next adventure. The studio is keeping major details about the plot secret, including the nature of the danger that the sisters will have to face.
The upcoming film will also introduce a new villain to the Frozen story. The character’s identity and motives have not been revealed yet. The new antagonist is expected to create problems around Anna and Kristoff’s wedding and could eventually push the sisters into another unexpected journey.
Olaf may also experience a new side of his life in Frozen 3. The beloved snowman is reportedly set to have a love interest named Samantha. Bell and Menzel added to the romance tease by saying that “love is in the air for everyone”. Josh Gad will return to voice Olaf.
Frozen 3 was originally expected to release in 2026, but its theatrical release was later moved to November 24, 2027. The new date keeps the film connected to the Thanksgiving release period in the United States.
Music will again be an important part of the franchise, with Kristen Anderson Lopez and Robert Lopez returning for the third film. The songwriting team created the music for the earlier Frozen movies and will once again work on the new songs.
Disney has also confirmed that Frozen 4 is in development. This means the story of Anna, Elsa and their friends will continue even after the events of Frozen 3, giving the franchise at least one more big screen chapter.
