Filmmaker Tim Burton and actress Monica Bellucci have officially ended their relationship. In a joint statement released on Friday, the 67-year-old director and the 60-year-old Italian icon confirmed their split, saying, “It is with much respect and deep care for each other that Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton have decided to part ways,” according to AFP.

The announcement comes shortly after Bellucci was seen supporting Burton during his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. The couple, who began dating in 2022, mostly kept their relationship private. However, their romance had captured the public’s imagination, especially due to the unique pairing of two distinct artistic personalities.

The duo first met in 2006 at the Cannes Film Festival but were both in long-term relationships at the time. They reconnected years later in 2022 at the Lumière Film Festival in Lyon, where Bellucci presented Burton with the Lumière Award. Soon after, they were photographed together in Madrid, fueling speculation about their relationship.

In 2023, Burton attended the premiere of Bellucci’s film Maria Callas: Lettere e Memorie at the Rome Film Festival. Observers described him as “so in love and happy.” That same year, Bellucci spoke candidly about their bond in Elle France, saying, “I know the man, I love him, and now I am going to meet the director,” referencing her role in Burton’s film Beetlejuice, the sequel to his 1988 classic.

Before Bellucci, Burton was in a long-term relationship with actress Helena Bonham Carter from 2001 to 2014. The two share two children and worked on multiple films together. Bellucci was previously married to French actor Vincent Cassel from 1999 to 2013, and they have two daughters, Deva and Leonie.

Their breakup marks the end of a brief but memorable romance.
