Akshay Kumar Doesn’t Care About “Money-Minded” Label: “I’m Not Robbing Anyone, I’m Working Hard”

Akshay Kumar Slams Back at Trolls: "If You're Paying Me to Cut Ribbons, What's the Problem?"

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, known for his discipline, high work ethic, and consistent box office success, recently appeared on the popular talk show Aap Ki Adalat, where he addressed the longstanding perception of him being “money-minded.” The actor, who is currently promoting his latest release Jolly LLB 3, responded candidly to the criticism surrounding his wealth and earnings.

During the show, Akshay firmly stated that he has always earned his money through honest work. “Agar paisa kamaya hai toh loot ke nahi kamaya. Maine kaam karke kamaya hai,” he said, emphasizing that for the past eight years, he has been India’s highest individual taxpayer. “Toh, it cannot be that I am money-minded. Money is an important aspect of life, and you have to be practical,” he added.

Highlighting his social responsibility, Akshay further said, “Paisa kamata hoon, tax deta hoon, aur un paison se kaafi seva karta hoon. Yeh mera dharm hai.” He reiterated that earning money through honest means should never be criticized. “Jab tak aap kisi se chori nahi kar rahe, jab tak aap mehnat kar rahe hain, tab tak koi problem nahi hai,” he declared.

Akshay also shared a personal anecdote about how, many years ago, he had to invest his own money to complete a film after the producer ran into financial difficulties. This, he said, was done not out of obligation, but because of his commitment to the project and the people involved.

The actor took a firm stand against the notion that accepting paid appearances or endorsements is unethical. “Agar aapko pheete kaatne ke paise milte hain, toh lene mein kya harz hai?” he questioned, adding that as long as no laws are broken and the work is honest, there should be no shame in earning well.

Meanwhile, Jolly LLB 3, which features Akshay Kumar alongside Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla, hit theatres last Friday. The courtroom drama has received positive audience feedback and has already grossed over ₹45 crore at the box office.

Akshay’s appearance and forthright comments have once again highlighted his no-nonsense attitude and commitment to transparency in both his professional and personal life.
