Megastar Chiranjeevi and filmmaker Bobby Kolli have reunited for a new Telugu film after working together on the successful Waltair Veerayya. The project was earlier known as Mega158 and is now officially titled Kaaka. The makers revealed the title and released the first glimpse on the occasion of Chiranjeevi’s 71st birthday.
The first glimpse gives viewers a look at Chiranjeevi’s character Sathyam. He works as a supervisor at an aqua factory and appears to be a simple man who is respected and liked by the people in his neighbourhood. His character is also shown as a caring father who shares a close relationship with his daughter.
The glimpse is 3 minutes and 2 seconds long and focuses on Sathyam’s daily life, family and personality. At first, he appears to be an ordinary working man who enjoys a peaceful life with his family. However, the tone of the video changes towards the end.
The final moments suggest that there could be much more to Sathyam than what is shown initially. The glimpse hints that he may have a connection with the criminal world and could possibly be a gangster who has been living as an ordinary family man. This creates a mystery around his real identity and gives the character a darker side.
The makers shared the announcement on social media and wrote, “#Mega158 is #KAAKA Presenting the WHOLE NEW SIDE of MEGASTAR @chiranjeevikonidela Garu on his birthday TITLE GLIMPSE OUT NOW KAAKA will set THE BLOODY BENCHMARK on the BIG SCREENS this Sankranthi, on JANUARY 13, 2027 (sic).”
Kaaka is scheduled to release in theatres on January 13, 2027, during the Sankranthi festival. The film also stars Anaswara Rajan, Nivetha Pethuraj, Sunil and Getup Srinu in important roles.
The film began production in May with a muhurat ceremony attended by Pawan Kalyan and Nagababu. Bobby Kolli has written and directed Kaaka, while Venkat K Narayana is producing it under KVN Productions. Thaman S is composing the music and Antony Ruben is handling the editing. Kona Venkat and K Chakravarthy Reddy have written the screenplay.
Chiranjeevi was last seen in Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, which released on January 12, 2026. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, the film also features Nayanthara and Venkatesh Daggubati. The film is currently available for streaming on Zee5.
