After its strong performance at the Indian box office, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar, is now looking for recognition for its music on the international stage. T Series and B62 Studios have announced that the film’s soundtrack and several individual songs have been submitted for consideration in different Grammy categories. Composer Shashwat Sachdev is associated with the soundtrack submission, while the songs have been entered in categories covering pop, rap, global music and other styles.
Which Dhurandhar: The Revenge songs are in the Grammy race?
The film’s soundtrack has been submitted in the Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media category. Its song Phir Se has been put forward for Best Song Written for Visual Media. Meanwhile, Jaan Se Guzarte Hain and Kanhaiya have been submitted for Best Global Music Performance.
The other entries include Aari Aari for Best Asian Pop Music Performance, Jaiye Sajna for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Destiny and Mann Atakya for Best Rap Performance, Waari Jawan for Best Dance/Electronic Recording, and Hum Pyaar Karne Wale for Best Remixed Recording.
The submissions cover several music categories, giving the film’s soundtrack a chance to be considered across different styles. However, it is important to note that submission does not mean a Grammy nomination has been confirmed.
How does Grammy consideration work?
Music submitted for Grammy consideration goes through the Recording Academy’s eligibility and voting process. The entries are reviewed before voting determines which recordings make the final nomination list. Only those selected through the official process are recognised as nominees.
It remains to be seen whether any of the songs or the soundtrack from Dhurandhar: The Revenge will progress to the final nominations.
Aditya Dhar hopes to return to the National Film Awards
Meanwhile, Aditya Dhar recently attended the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony with his wife, Yami Gautam, who received the Best Actress award for her performance in Article 370.
When reporters asked him about Dhurandhar, the filmmaker said, ‘हम यहां ‘आर्टिकल 370’ के लिए आए हैं। हम ‘धुरंधर’ पर भी बात करेंगे। उम्मीद है कि हम अगले साल भी आएंगे, लेकिन आज पूरी बात ‘आर्टिकल 370′ के बारे में है।’
His comment has sparked interest in the film’s possible awards journey. However, the Grammy submissions and any future National Film Awards recognition are separate processes, and no outcome has been confirmed.
