Actress and politician Hema Malini was spotted looking visibly emotional outside Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, where her husband and legendary actor Dharmendra is currently undergoing treatment. In photos and videos that surfaced online, Hema was seen seated in her car alongside her daughter Esha Deol, both appearing deeply concerned as they visited the hospital on Tuesday.
Their visit followed the family’s strong denial of rumours about Dharmendra’s health and false reports of his death. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Hema Malini condemned the spread of misinformation and urged the media to act responsibly. “What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and recovering? This is extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy,” she wrote.
Earlier in the day, Esha Deol had also issued a statement on Instagram, clarifying her father’s condition. “The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for papa’s speedy recovery,” she wrote.
The 88-year-old actor was admitted to the hospital on November 1 after experiencing breathlessness. Soon after, several speculative reports suggested that he had been shifted to the ICU and placed on life support — claims that were swiftly dismissed by Sunny Deol’s team. “Mr Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Further comments and updates will be shared as available. Request everyone to pray for his speedy recovery and respect the family’s right to privacy,” the team’s statement read.
As Dharmendra continues to recover, fans and colleagues from across the film fraternity have expressed their love, support, and prayers for the veteran star’s speedy recovery.
