In a recent chat with Mashable India, Jemimah Rodrigues shared a heartwarming story about meeting Virat and Anushka during an overseas tour in New Zealand. Jemimah and fellow cricketer Smriti Mandhana wanted to seek advice from Virat on batting and ended up spending hours with him and Anushka at a café in their hotel.
“He actually told Smriti and me that you both have the power to change women’s cricket, and I can see that happening,” Jemimah revealed. What began as a cricket discussion turned into a heartfelt conversation about life, goals, and shared challenges.
“It felt like a few long-lost friends who met and spoke,” she added. Their chat lasted almost four hours before they were politely asked to leave by the café staff. The encounter left a lasting impression on Jemimah, further highlighting the couple’s grounded and approachable nature.
Why the Couple Moved to London
The shift to London in 2024 was not sudden but a well-thought-out decision. According to Dr. Sriram Nene, husband of actor Madhuri Dixit, the couple chose to move because they craved normalcy and privacy, especially with two children to raise.
On his YouTube podcast, Dr. Nene said, “We had a conversation with Anushka one day, and it was very interesting. They were thinking about moving to London because they can’t enjoy their success here. Anything they do attracts attention.”
He added, “There comes a time when it becomes intrusive… even at dinner or lunch. (Anushka and Virat) are lovely people, and they just want to raise their kids normally.”
