Vicky Kaushal had an unforgettable evening in Delhi on Friday as he was honoured with the Actor of the Year award at the NDTV Indian of the Year 2025 ceremony. The accolade recognised his compelling performance as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the historical drama Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar. While the award celebrated his cinematic excellence, it was Vicky’s candid and heartfelt reflections on fatherhood that truly captured the audience’s attention.
During a light-hearted interaction at the event, Vicky was asked whether he had mastered the art of changing diapers after recently becoming a father. Bursting into laughter, the actor quipped, “I am better at changing diapers than acting.” His witty response instantly drew applause and smiles, showcasing his down-to-earth charm.
Turning emotional, Vicky spoke about the life-changing experience of welcoming his first child with wife Katrina Kaif on November 7. “It’s very tough, but one day when he watches this, he’ll be proud of his dad,” he shared. “I can’t express in words what it means to be a father.” The event also marked Vicky’s first trip outside Mumbai since becoming a parent.
While accepting the award, the actor dedicated the honour to his family and newborn son. “This is truly special and humbling. This award is for my family and my little one, who has come into our lives as a blessing,” he said, adding that he hopes his son will one day watch the moment with pride.
Vicky Kaushal’s career began with small roles in Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana and Bombay Velvet, before gaining critical acclaim with Masaan (2015). He went on to deliver notable performances in Raazi and Sanju, and his role in Uri: The Surgical Strike earned him the National Film Award for Best Actor.
