Salman Khan made a rare and special appearance on Monday night as the Khan family gathered to celebrate a significant milestone — Salim Khan and Salma Khan’s 61st wedding anniversary. The intimate celebration took place at a private venue, where close family members came together to honour the couple’s decades-long journey. Salman arrived with his security team and greeted the paparazzi warmly before heading inside. Dressed in a simple black T-shirt and matching jeans, the superstar kept his look understated yet effortlessly stylish.
The evening saw several familiar faces from the extended Khan family. Alvira Agnihotri attended the celebration with her husband, filmmaker Atul Agnihotri, and their daughter Alizeh Agnihotri. Celebrities and family friends including Sonakshi Sinha, Zaheer Iqbal, Ishita Dutta, Vatsal Sheth, and Salman’s brother-in-law Aayush Sharma were also spotted arriving to congratulate the couple and join the cosy gathering.
Salim Khan, one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated screenwriters, is widely known for writing enduring classics such as Sholay, Zanjeer, and Deewar. He married Salma Khan (formerly Sushila Charak) in 1964, and together they raised five children: Salman, Arbaaz, Sohail, Alvira, and Arpita. In 1981, Salim Khan also married dancer-actress Helen, a development that initially caused emotional turmoil within the family — particularly for a young Salman.
In a 1990 Filmfare interview, Salman opened up about that difficult period, describing himself as a true “mama’s boy.” He spoke candidly about the pain he felt seeing his mother upset and waiting for Salim Khan to return home after his second marriage. “My mom’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me… I can’t bear to see her unhappy,” he had said.
With time, however, the family overcame the emotional challenges. Salim Khan made conscious efforts to reassure his children, and gradually, Salma accepted Helen. Today, the family shares a warm bond — a unity reflected beautifully during their heartfelt anniversary celebration.
