Shah Rukh Khan is officially returning as India’s most celebrated super-spy, with Pathaan 2 finally confirmed after months of swirling rumours. In a completely unexpected twist, the announcement didn’t come from YRF, a teaser, or a press release—but from a real estate developer on stage during SRK’s Dubai visit. The moment instantly sent fans into an online frenzy.
The reveal took place at the launch of a luxury tower named after the superstar. While addressing the audience, the developer casually dropped what fans are calling the “announcement of the year”: “Koi blockbuster movie hoti hai toh uska ek sequel hota hai… like Pathaan. Pathaan 2 aa rahi hai.” Within minutes, videos of the moment flooded fan pages, confirming what the internet had long been hoping for.
The timing couldn’t have been more explosive. The news arrived right after Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar stormed the box office with a massive Rs 200 crore opening. Fans immediately connected the dots, predicting an even bigger wave for Pathaan 2. One user wrote, “ALL TIME GROSSER of the Spy Universe gets a SEQUEL. Shooting next year after Alia’s Alpha!” Another commented, “After Dhurandhar’s tsunami, expectations from every spy film are SKY HIGH—Pathaan 2 is walking into insane hype.”
Speculation also surged around whether Alpha would feature a post-credit cameo from Shah Rukh Khan to set up the sequel, continuing the Spy Universe’s tradition of interconnected storytelling.
Amid the excitement, SRK delivered an emotional reflection at the Dubai event. “I have a bronze DDLJ statue in London, I’ve won a National Award, and now there’s a building in Dubai named after me. I’ve become someone my parents can look down on proudly from heaven,” he said, describing the moment as life-changing.

Industry sources report that Pathaan 2 is expected to go on floors next year, with extensive shooting planned in Chile. According to Mid-Day, discussions accelerated during Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font’s India visit. Filmmaker Anshuman Jha confirmed “concrete conversations” about both Pathaan 2 and Lakadbaggha 3 being shot in the country next year.
Reports also indicate that Pathaan 2 will release before the mega-crossover Tiger vs Pathaan. As covered by Pinkvilla and PeepingMoon, the sequel is designed to advance Pathaan’s story while laying vital groundwork for the franchise’s biggest showdown yet.
With globe-spanning action, expanding lore, and SRK back in spy mode, Pathaan 2 is already shaping up to be one of Indian cinema’s most anticipated events of the decade.
