BTS recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on March 25 and 26. This marked their first late night television appearance in the United States after the release of their fifth studio album ARIRANG. The performances were recorded at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, which provided a different and visually interesting setting.
Instead of performing on a standard stage, the group used the museum’s spiral ramps as part of their performance. This created a new experience for the audience, as they were placed around different levels of the space. Over the two days, BTS performed the songs SWIM and 2.0 in front of a smaller group of fans known as ARMY.
During the performance of “SWIM,” the members walked down the curved ramps before coming together at the centre. The arrangement was designed to feel close and personal, with the audience seated nearby. The lighting reflected on the walls in a way that looked like moving water, which matched the theme of the song about moving forward in life.
For “2.0,” the audience stood along different levels of the ramps, creating a layered visual effect. Strong lighting was used to create shadows and silhouettes, which supported the song’s theme of change and growth.
BTS also spoke with Jimmy Fallon during the show. They talked about being back together as a group and shared their experiences from the time they were apart. Jin said, “I felt like I had reunited with family,” while describing the reunion. Jimmy Fallon referred to this phase as “the new era of BTS.”
The group kept the conversation relaxed and friendly. They entered the set wearing slippers and gave a pair to Jimmy Fallon, explaining a Korean custom of using indoor footwear. This moment was also connected to a line from one of their songs. They answered questions from fans and described ARMY in one word as “Love.”
They also spoke about their upcoming BTS WORLD TOUR ARIRANG and invited Jimmy Fallon to attend one of their shows in East Rutherford.
At the same time, HYBE announced a program called HYBE India Audition. This initiative is aimed at finding and supporting new talent for a global platform.
Overall, BTS’s appearance included performances, conversation, and fan interaction, showing their return as a group and the beginning of a new stage in their journey.
