Argentine singer and model Fede Dorcaz was tragically shot dead on Thursday night in Mexico City, in what authorities believe may have been a failed robbery attempt. The 29-year-old rising star had just wrapped up rehearsals for the popular reality show Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy, where he was set to appear in the upcoming season.
According to TMZ, citing the Mexico City Secretariat of Public Safety, Dorcaz was driving home when two masked assailants on a motorcycle intercepted his car. He was shot three times — including once fatally in the neck — and died at the scene. While investigators are treating robbery as the likely motive, no official confirmation has been made. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area as part of an ongoing investigation.
The production team of Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy paid tribute to the singer on Instagram, writing: “The HOY family is heartbroken to learn of the passing of our friend and colleague, Fede Dorcaz. His passion and memory will live on forever. Rest in peace.”
Born Federico Docazberro, Dorcaz rose to fame with Latin pop hits like No Eres Tú and Cara Bonita, both of which charted in Mexico’s Top 10. His debut album Instinto, released in October 2024, solidified his position in the Latin music scene. Alongside his musical career, he was a successful model, having worked with renowned fashion houses such as Giorgio Armani and Dolce & Gabbana.
His girlfriend, Mexican actress and singer Mariana Ávila, expressed her grief in a heartbreaking post: “You will always be my favourite person… please come back.”
Originally from Argentina, Dorcaz moved to Spain at 13 before settling in Mexico to pursue his career. His sudden and violent death has left fans, colleagues, and the entertainment industry in shock.
