BLACKPINK’s Lisa Goes Full Hollywood: White Lotus Star to Lead Netflix Rom-Com

After her White Lotus debut, BLACKPINK’s Lisa is set to headline a Netflix rom-com inspired by Notting Hill, marking a major Hollywood leap.

The transformation from global K-pop superstar to Hollywood leading lady is unfolding at remarkable speed for BLACKPINK’s Lisa. Riding high on the buzz from her much-anticipated acting debut in The White Lotus Season 3, the Thai rapper, singer, and dancer is now set to headline a brand-new romantic comedy for Netflix, marking a significant milestone in her expanding Western career.

The untitled project reunites Lisa with The White Lotus executive producer David Bernad, an Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning filmmaker. Industry insiders reveal that the concept for the film was born on the sets of the HBO series in Thailand, where Lisa and Bernad discovered a shared love for the 1999 rom-com classic Notting Hill, starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. That beloved film’s charm and wit are expected to influence the tone of Lisa’s upcoming Netflix venture.

While the storyline is being kept tightly under wraps, the Notting Hill inspiration hints at a heartfelt, modern romance—possibly exploring the intersection of global celebrity and everyday life. To craft the screenplay, Netflix has enlisted acclaimed writer Katie Silberman, known for the streamer’s hit Set It Up and the critically praised Booksmart. Silberman, who is currently under an exclusive multi-year deal with Netflix, will serve as both writer and producer.

David Bernad will produce the film through his Middle Child Productions banner, while Lisa will step into a dual role as both lead actress and executive producer, alongside Alice Kang. The move signals Lisa’s growing creative involvement and influence beyond music and performance.

This announcement arrives during a defining phase of Lisa’s career. Alongside her continued success with BLACKPINK, she reached a major solo milestone earlier this year with the release of her debut album Alter Ego, which topped multiple Billboard charts. Her ambitions in film are equally bold. In addition to the Netflix rom-com, Lisa is preparing for a major role in TYGO, a feature film connected to Netflix’s high-octane Extraction universe.

Lisa’s acting journey began with her role as Mook, a wellness professional, in The White Lotus. That experience not only introduced her to a global television audience but also opened doors to deeper industry connections. By collaborating with proven creatives like Bernad and Silberman, Lisa is positioning herself as a formidable presence in Hollywood.

With Netflix’s strong track record in romantic comedies and Lisa’s massive global fanbase, this untitled film is already shaping up to be one of the streamer’s most anticipated upcoming releases—a true crossover moment for a global icon.
