Following a breakout launch that took 1990s Bollywood’s essence in the form of ambition, obsession, and indiegogo cinema, First Copy is coming back officially with Season 2. Amazon MX Player, Amazon’s ad-free streaming service, has confirmed the second season, and its stand-up-turned-actor Munawar Faruqui is set to reprise his well-received role of Arif.
Season 1 was a daring change of pace for Faruqui, who gave up stand-up comedy to play a complicated dramatic role. His turn as Arif—a visionary-turned-filmmaker ravenous with ambition and desire—won over critics and audiences. The inaugural season was set against the retro Bollywood canvas and charted Arif’s meteoric ascent before concluding in a jaw-dropping implosion of his filmmaking empire.
Arif’s Rise Was Just the Beginning
Season 2 continues in the wake of Arif’s fall. The teaser suggests a more character-driven, emotionally charged trajectory as Arif grapples with betrayal, loss, and possibly redemption. “First Copy was a huge leap for me,” Faruqui explained. “Arif is intense, imperfect, and fueled by chaos—and his story is hardly done.”
Participating in the cast to return are Krystle D’Souza, Gulshan Grover, Saqib Ayub, Ashi Singh, Meiyang Chang, Inam Ul Haq, and Raza Murad, which ensures a more intense, richer, and full-of-new-alliances, new-rivalries, and dramatic-predictable story.
Streaming Free Later This Year
First Copy Season 2 will arrive later in 2025, exclusively on Amazon MX Player. Subscriptions are not needed; fans can watch it entirely for free. With more hype and speculations spreading across social media, it’s evident that Arif’s journey has resonated with people—and the second chapter is about to arrive.
