Although Stranger Things has officially concluded its story, Netflix is offering fans one final opportunity to step back into the world of Hawkins. The streaming platform has announced a special behind-the-scenes documentary titled One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, which promises an intimate and emotional look at how the iconic series’ final chapter came together.
Premiering on January 12, the documentary explores the making of Season 5, the season that brought an end to the decade-long sci-fi phenomenon created by the Duffer Brothers. Directed by Martina Radwan, the film closely follows the cast and crew throughout production, capturing the emotional farewells, creative challenges, and sheer dedication required to bring the story to its conclusion.
According to Netflix, the documentary sheds light on the long shooting days, high-pressure moments, and collaborative spirit that defined the final season. Produced by Angus Wall, Terry Leonard, and Kent Kubena under MakeMake Productions, the project stands out due to the unprecedented access granted to Radwan. She spent nearly a year on set during the filming of Season 5, documenting both the large-scale production moments and the quiet, personal interactions behind the camera.
Radwan expressed deep gratitude for being trusted with such close access to the process. She described watching creators Matt and Ross Duffer guide the series toward its ending as a rare privilege. The director also shared that she wished she had been able to document earlier seasons, as many cast and crew members openly reflected on their years-long journey, friendships, and personal growth throughout the show.
Stranger Things, produced by Upside Down Pictures in collaboration with 21 Laps Entertainment, has always been a deeply personal project for the Duffer Brothers. They revealed that the idea for the documentary stemmed from their lifelong love of behind-the-scenes filmmaking. Growing up in North Carolina, far from Hollywood, the brothers were inspired by making-of documentaries such as The Lord of the Rings, which helped them understand how large-scale productions are brought to life.
Believing that such documentaries have become increasingly rare, the Duffers wanted One Last Adventure to revive that tradition. The film is meant not only for fans but also for aspiring filmmakers, offering an honest look at the stress, teamwork, creativity, and trust required to produce a global hit like Stranger Things.
Netflix has also released a trailer for the documentary, teasing emotional moments, heartfelt goodbyes, and candid reactions from the cast as they wrap up the series. With the final season set in the fall of 1987 and running 128 minutes, One Last Adventure serves as a fitting farewell — a final walk through Hawkins before the Upside Down fades away for good.
