Bollywood superstar Salman Khan recently made a powerful and emotional appearance on the debut episode of Two Much, the new chat show hosted by Twinkle Khanna and Kajol. Joined by fellow actor Aamir Khan, Salman opened up about his painful battle with trigeminal neuralgia, a rare and debilitating nerve condition.
The actor revealed that he first experienced the symptoms while shooting for his 2007 film Partner with Lara Dutta. “Lara brushed a strand of hair off my face, and I felt this sharp, electric pain. I joked, ‘Wow Lara, you’re electrifying!’ But that was the beginning,” he said.
Salman lived with the condition for over seven-and-a-half years, enduring waves of intense facial pain every few minutes. “It was so painful, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy,” he admitted. Even simple tasks like eating became a challenge. “It would take me an hour and a half to eat an omelet because I couldn’t chew. I had to force myself through the pain.”
Initially misdiagnosed as a dental issue, Salman was prescribed high doses of painkillers—up to 750 mg—which offered little relief. He shared that the only time he felt minor relief was after “a drink or two.” In 2011, he finally underwent surgery to treat the condition.
However, trigeminal neuralgia isn’t the only health issue Salman is coping with. During an appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show in June, he revealed he is also battling a brain aneurysm and arteriovenous (AV) malformation, alongside fractured ribs.
Despite these serious medical challenges, Salman Khan continues to work actively in the film industry, inspiring fans with his strength, resilience, and unwavering dedication.
