After months of speculation, John Abraham’s much-awaited action-thriller Tehran has locked its release date — but not in theatres. The geopolitical drama is all set to premiere exclusively on ZEE5 via OTTplay Premium on August 14, 2025, just in time for Independence Day. Originally slated for a theatrical release in 2023, the film faced delays due to distribution challenges, but now, fans can finally catch the high-octane thriller from the comfort of their homes.

Action-Packed Trailer Raises the Stakes
The makers released the official trailer on August 1, instantly capturing attention with its intense tone, sleek visuals, and gritty storytelling. The story begins with three deadly bomb blasts, sparking fears of a major terrorist conspiracy. At the center of it all is Rajeev Kumar, a Delhi Police officer played by John Abraham, who quickly finds himself entangled in a dangerous political maze.

As the trailer progresses, Rajeev becomes a man on the run — hunted by Iran, abandoned by India, and entangled in a global espionage plot. His loyalty is questioned, leaving viewers to wonder: Is he a traitor or a patriot caught in the crossfire?

Stellar Cast and Real-Life Inspiration
Directed by Arun Gopalan and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films along with Bake My Cake Films, Tehran is inspired by true events, particularly the 1977 Tehran coup. The film also stars Manushi Chhillar, Neeru Bajwa, and Madhurima Tuli, who bring further intensity and depth to the narrative.

Fans are already hyped. One user wrote, “Better than War 2… this deserved a theatrical release.” Another chimed in, “After Batla House and The Diplomat, now Tehran fire!”

With explosive action and a politically charged storyline, Tehran is shaping up to be a must-watch Independence Day premiere.
