Hosted by Karan Johar, The Traitors is returning with Season 2, and the makers have now confirmed its premiere date. The reality show will begin streaming on August 13 on Amazon Prime Video, with new episodes releasing every Thursday. Along with announcing the release date, the makers also shared the first promo, giving viewers a glimpse of what to expect from the new season. The video also confirms the first 2 contestants, Mallika Sherawat and Munawar Faruqui, who will take part in the game of trust, strategy and deception.
The promo begins with Karan Johar speaking about betrayals that have become unforgettable. Referring to the dramatic moments from the first season, he jokes that some of them deserve a place in the “museum of Traitors.” The video then revisits several memorable moments from the previous season and features contestants including Purav Jha, Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, Ashish Vidyarthi, Uorfi Javed and Elnaaz Norouzi. It highlights the mind games, unexpected twists and shifting alliances that made the first season a talking point among viewers.
Karan then says that some former contestants are still dealing with “PTSD — Post Traitors Stress Disorder”. He reveals that 21 new players will enter the palace for another round where trust will be constantly tested and betrayal could happen at any stage of the competition. While sharing the release date announcement on social media, Karan wrote, “Rise and shine, it’s dhoka time once again #TheTraitorsOnPrime, New Season with New Episodes Every Thursday, Aug 13.”
The promo also introduces the first 2 confirmed contestants. While welcoming Mallika Sherawat, Karan says, “Murder karna to inki fitrat mein hai. But will she kill in this game too or…?” He then introduces Munawar Faruqui, calling him “the king of reality TV” and saying that he comes “all the way from Nagpada.” Their participation has already sparked curiosity about how they will handle the psychological challenges and strategic gameplay.
Karan also hints that the new season will be tougher than before. According to him, the contestants will not only face different tasks but will also have to deal with emotional decisions, changing alliances and unexpected betrayals as the competition progresses.
So far, only Mallika Sherawat and Munawar Faruqui have been officially confirmed by the makers. However, several other celebrities are being linked to the show. The reported contestant list includes Dalip Tahil, Shweta Tiwari, Elvish Yadav, Shalini Passi, Sanjay Kapoor, Rubina Dilaik, Abhishek Malhan and Rhea Chakraborty, among others. Their participation has not yet been confirmed. Like the previous season, The Traitors Season 2 will be filmed at the Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer, where contestants will compete in a game built around trust, strategy and betrayal.
