Saif Ali Khan is preparing for the release of his new crime drama series Kartavya. The actor, who has worked in the Hindi film industry for more than three decades, will be seen playing the role of a police officer facing serious pressure in both his professional and personal life. The series is backed by Netflix and produced by Gauri Khan under the Red Chillies Entertainment banner.
Over the years, Saif Ali Khan has often been associated with modern and urban roles. However, films and shows like Omkara and Sacred Games have shown his ability to play intense and grounded Indian characters as well. With Kartavya, he once again takes on a serious role set in a crime based story.
The recently released trailer gives a look into a tense world filled with crime, pressure and moral conflict. Apart from Saif Ali Khan, the series also stars Rasika Dugal, Sanjay Mishra, Zakir Hussain, Manish Chaudhari and journalist Saurabh Dwivedi, who is making his acting debut with the project.
Directed by Pulkit, the series follows the story of Pawan, played by Saif Ali Khan. Pawan is a police officer who comes under scrutiny after a journalist is shot while under his protection. As questions are raised over the security lapse, he is pushed into investigating the attack and finding the people responsible.
As the investigation moves forward, Pawan gets drawn into a larger system involving power, influence and hidden secrets. At the same time, his personal life also starts becoming more difficult. His family begins receiving threats because of a dispute involving his brother, creating tension both inside and outside his workplace.
The story focuses on how Pawan struggles to balance his responsibilities as a police officer with his loyalty towards his family. As pressure increases from all sides, he is forced to make difficult decisions where every action carries serious consequences.
