Bhooth Bangla continued to perform steadily at the Indian box office during its third week. The horror comedy film collected around Rs. 21 crore in the week, while its third Thursday earnings were approximately Rs. 1.40 crore. With this, the film’s total India nett collection has now reached Rs. 143 crore.
Directed by Priyadarshan, the film witnessed a drop of nearly 50 per cent compared to its second week collections. Even with the decline, the movie has managed to maintain a stable run in theatres and continues to attract audiences across different centres.
Trade analysts believe the film still has room to grow at the box office. Since there is currently no major competition in cinemas, the movie is expected to enjoy a free run in its fourth week as well. According to estimates, the film may add another Rs. 9 crore to Rs. 10 crore to its collection during the coming week. If this trend continues, Bhooth Bangla is likely to cross the Rs. 150 crore mark soon.
At present, the film’s final lifetime collection is expected to remain between Rs. 155 crore and Rs. 160 crore. Its long term performance will largely depend on how strongly it holds during the fourth and fifth weeks in theatres.
The success of the film is also considered important for Akshay Kumar, who has faced a challenging period at the box office after the pandemic. Over the past few years, several of his releases did not perform as expected. Last year brought some improvement with three films doing reasonably well, but Bhooth Bangla has now emerged as a clear HIT for the actor.
Akshay Kumar is also known for consistently releasing films every year, unlike some actors who take long gaps between projects. Industry experts often believe that actors with regular releases help keep audience interest alive in theatres. Ajay Devgn is another actor known for maintaining a similar pace of releases.
So far, the film’s collections include Rs. 80.50 crore in week one, Rs. 41.50 crore in week two, Rs. 4.50 crore on third Friday, Rs. 4.50 crore on third Saturday, Rs. 5.50 crore on third Sunday, Rs. 1.60 crore on third Monday, Rs. 2.00 crore on third Tuesday, Rs. 1.50 crore on third Wednesday and Rs. 1.40 crore on third Thursday.
