Mohanlal has announced his new film titled Athimanoharam. This project brings him together again with director Tharun Moorthy after their earlier collaboration in Thudarum. The announcement was shared on social media, where the actor also posted a new look from the film along with Vishu wishes for his fans.
In the poster, Mohanlal is shown wearing a police uniform and looking upward with a smile. The scene also includes devotees travelling to Sabarimala in the background, giving a local and cultural feel to the setting. The title design includes two stars, which indicates that his role in the film is that of a Sub Inspector.
Athimanoharam is described as a cop action comedy. Mohanlal plays a Sub Inspector working at a local police station. The screenplay for the film is written by Ratheesh Ravi. Actress Meera Jasmine will be seen in a lead role opposite Mohanlal. This marks her return to a major role alongside him after several years. Earlier, she had appeared briefly in Hridayapoorvam with the actor.
The film had some changes during its early stages. It was first introduced as L365, with Austin Das planned as the director. Later, due to creative differences, he was replaced by Tharun Moorthy. After this change, the project was reworked and developed into a new film, now titled Athimanoharam.
Looking at his upcoming work, Mohanlal will next appear in Drishyam 3, directed by Jeethu Joseph. The release date of the film was earlier set for April 2, 2026, but it has now been shifted to May 21, 2026, which is also his 66th birthday.
Before that, Drishyam 2, which was originally released on OTT, will be released in theatres on April 10, 2026. Apart from Athimanoharam, Mohanlal has also announced other projects, including L367 and a film with Priyadarshan, which will mark the director’s 100th project.
He is also expected to appear in cameo roles in films like Jailer 2, Khalifa Part 1, and Thudakkam
