Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has responded to rumours about a possible biopic on his life. The actor, who is preparing for the release of his upcoming war drama Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, made an interesting statement when he was asked whether his personal journey could be turned into a film.

Salman attended a special event for Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace in Andheri West, Mumbai, on Friday. He was accompanied by his co-stars. During the media interaction, the actor was asked whether the upcoming film was based on a real person’s life. Salman clarified that the film is inspired by the 2020 Galwan clash between Indian and Chinese troops. The discussion then moved towards rumours about a possible biopic on the superstar.

Salman Khan’s unexpected response to biopic rumours

When asked about a film based on his life, Salman gave a response that quickly caught attention. He suggested that his life might not have the kind of story that could make a film a superhit. However, he also hinted that there are incidents from his life that could affect the reputation of several people.

Speaking to the media, he said, “There’s nothing in my life that will make a film a superhit. However, there’s a lot in my life which could lead to the reputation of a lot of people sinking”.

While his statement has added to the curiosity surrounding a possible biopic, Salman did not announce any plans for a film based on his life. His response has instead brought attention to the stories and experiences he believes could create controversy if brought to the screen.

What is Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace about?

Earlier titled Galwan, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace is inspired by the India-China clash that took place in the Galwan Valley on June 15, 2020. The incident occurred in eastern Ladakh during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Indian and Chinese troops clashed in a disputed area along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The violent confrontation resulted in the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers, while China also suffered casualties. It was the deadliest military clash between the two countries in more than four decades.

The incident increased tensions between the neighbouring countries, leading to additional troop deployments and diplomatic discussions. Both countries have since worked towards improving relations through diplomatic channels.

Salman also denied rumours that the government had pressured him to change the film’s script.
